This was the sharpest drop ever recorded in the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. Thus, Musk was recorded as the first person to lose $ 100 billion.
The unprecedented decline reflects Tesla, which makes up the bulk of Musk’s fortune, struggling with rising raw material costs and supply chain disruptions.
Shares of the electric car maker fell 6.8 percent to $167.87 at the close of Monday, hitting their lowest level since November 2020.
