In a social media post, NASA revealed the location of the world’s coldest spot.
The American Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) announced the coldest spot on earth with a social media share.
“The coldest place we’ve found on Earth is a high ridge on the East Antarctic Plateau. On a clear winter night, the temperature can drop to -92.7 degrees,” NASA said in a post.
Coldest region for the last 9 years
NASA first reported finding the planet’s coldest spot in 2013, and the plateau has continued to hold the record every year since then.
Located at the South Pole, this point continues to be the coldest point on Earth for the last 9 years.
NASA says the National Snow and Ice Data Center concluded that the East Antarctic Plateau is the coldest place on earth after analyzing 32 years of data from several satellites.
The lowest temperature detected by satellites was -93.2 degrees Celsius on August 10, 2010.
