Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, announced that the company is developing a new electric vehicle platform that would cost half the price of the Model 3/Y platform.
Elon Musk has often talked about producing a more affordable Tesla model, but supply issues, increased demand for electric vehicles, and inflation are raising costs instead.
Tesla engineers had previously stated that they would develop a $25,000 car, but their attention was diverted to the robot Optimus and Model Y manufacturing increased instead.
According to Musk’s most recent message, this is still his plan, and Tesla engineers will concentrate on developing a far less expensive platform.
Elon Musk remarked, “Engineering for Cyberrucks and Semi is complete.” We are thus developing the next-generation vehicle, which will probably cost roughly half as much as platforms 3 and Y. It’ll be less cheap and smaller, to be clear. “
Currently, the Model 3 from Tesla costs $47,000 in the US.
