Users of the Chinese video-sharing site TikTok have been informed that some of its workers there have access to information from accounts in the UK and the EU. According to the social media giant, its “privacy policy” was based on the requirement to process their daily tasks.”

Many nations are concerned about TikTok’s revised privacy policies.

To keep a “consistent, interesting, and safe” user experience on the platform, the firm has updated its privacy policy.

TikTok has made user data accessible to users outside of the nation. Some of the employees TikTok has access to are based in China.

Authorities from the UK and the US, among others, scrutinized the privacy upgrade because they were concerned that data would be sent to the Chinese government.

A US official demanded that the practice be outlawed in the country earlier this week.

According to TikTok, the policy applies to the “European Economic Area, UK, and Switzerland.”
